Ways you could help the rescue effort
Please note, that SPRA is a volunteer based organisation. We have no paid staff, and we receive no funding. As a casual volunteer, you would generally need to cover your own costs associated with transport and telephone calls. Completion of this application form confirms your acceptance of this requirement. Please only proceed with an application if this would not be a concern for you.
Tick all relevant ways that you would like to help
Transport volunteer for pick up/delivery of rescued animals in your local area i.e. to/from the pound, vet, foster carer homes (casual/flexible basis)
Conduct site visits to foster carer homes to ensure appropriate care is maintained for all fostered animals
Foster a rescued animal
Sponsor a rescued pet (full sponsorship is $40 a month) to help cover the pet’s upkeep
Assist with fundraising projects and events, including stalls.
Display posters to help rescued animals find a home e.g. at vet clinics, pet suppliers, shops, community notice boards. Posters are provided by SPRA.
Talk to your vet/pet supplier about the rescue work Sydney Pet Rescue & Adoption is doing, to see how they may be able to help e.g. displaying posters, donation of goods for foster pets, donation of items/vouchers for raffle/adoption packs etc
Printing off coloured posters of rescued pets looking for homes (We would email to you).
Assist with social media i.e. Facebook, website admin
Assist with other volunteer roles that are advertised periodically
Organise for details of rescued pets or charity events to be featured in local newsletters ie school, work, sporting/community organisations
Assist with the newsletter / other marketing material
Assist with sending emails to our database on a regular basis
Assist with fundraising

Items we always need for the animals

Good quality wet food - cat and dog food always needed. Optimum/Purina individual, Dine peel packs/tins (highest in protein), Whiskas kitten and adult. We are unable to use Home Brand, Black and White or other home brand options which are of lesser quality.
Good quality dry food - adult cat and dog i.e: Royal Canine / Science Diet preferred. Optimum / Purina from supermarket is ok. We are unable to use Whiskas, Friskies, Home Brand or other similar.
Flea control/worming tablets - advocate, revolution, capstan, milbemax
Cat Litter: Breeders Choice recycled paper litter
Covered litter trays
Scratching stands – small, medium and large
Cat and dog toys e.g. Kong toys. No bits which can be chewed off, for safety.
